The German’s Chocolate cake originated in the USA when the recipe was published in the Dallas Morning Newspaper in 1957. If it’s one thing I have learnt from researching this recipe is that marketing is everything.
This vegan version of the cake consists of a light fluffy subtly chocolate cake with a pecan coconut caramel. Some versions also include a chocolate buttercream around the outside.
The original recipe included a bar of Bakers German’s Sweet Chocolate. The recipe was distributed across America making it a household recipe, increasing sales by 73% (according to wikipedia).
This cake is the 3rd episode of my cooking show VEGAN AROUND THE WORLD. You can find the recipe and the full episode on my Patreon for US$3 per month, this will also give you access to all the other episodes. This is a subscription service just like Netflix.
